It's been awhile..

Yes...I didn't post when I said I was going to. It's hard when I never have daylight...it means I can't take pictures and usually there's nobody really on Etsy, so I feel like I shouldn't list things, etc.

But finally today, despite The Boy dragging me into his night shift sleep schedule, I woke up just in time for AN HOUR of photo-time with my new necklace and pendants. Ahh, how I'd waited!

Since then, I've posted a few - so far, not that many people have looked :) Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be different. I'm hoping to have enough money saved so that I can get The Boy something nice this year for our birthdays.

Yep, you read that right! Our birthdays. We're a year apart - but our birthday is on the same day - March 18th. And every year, I've been too poor to afford a gift and I can't let that happen this time! We're young and in love and I want to show it :)

So anyway, hopefully someone will get that vibe when they're poking through my shops listings, and buy something! Hehe.

Like, for example, this new pendant in my Botanical series of pendants:

I really like it, and I hope that others do to because I'm going to make more!

What I really love is that I made it using my handmade stamps. I love making my own stamps and spent a day last week making up a few - finally, I used them for something and it's these cute little pendants.

Here's a peek at another one that I'm going to list tomorrow:

What do you think? He kinds of matches this necklace that I've also yet to list. I can't get enough!

Anyway, enough with the pendants already! The Boy just called to say that he's freezing his butt off at work - it's CRAZY cold outside. It makes me feel guilty that I'm sitting here with my feet next to the heat register...hehe. I think I'm off to find nourishment and watch tv for a bit - spoil myself, as I've come to think of it. (I tape all the tv shows I like, so I'm spoiled because I don't have to watch commercials...and since I never watch tv that often, it's really nice!)

Bye!

p.s. It was in the news today that Heath Ledger has died :S It's so sad. No matter the circumstances, I hope that his family gets through this...and I wish his daughter well - isn't she only two? :( So sad.

Addictions...

I'm addicted to HGTV. Anything related to home decorating/crafting seems to grab my attention lately. Maybe it's because we live in a boring townhouse and can't paint the walls. They're stuck this boring beige colour and we haven't found a good way to distract the eye from it yet. There's too much wall to cover, it seems.

We should really buy some artwork - but we just don't have the money in our budget right now. I suppose I could make up some art myself, but then it would be a townhouse full of tree paintings...hah.

I decided to poke around Etsy's art section to find a few things that I would LOVE to buy, but just can't afford to right now. Here are a couple on my dream list:

Everything in Rachel's shop! She runs an Etsy shop called FogAndThistle and has such LOVELY paper art listed. Of course, it was true love when I saw that she had rabbits included in her artwork!

irenesuchocki has an Etsy shop full of gorgeous photographs that make me drool. The trees, the landscapes...I can't get enough.

Amazing, aren't they all?

I want to include more, but it's so late and I can barely keep my eyes open. Etsy seems to do this to me...I lose my sleep schedule and am up all hours of the night. But tomorrow I will be back with some updates on pendants and necklaces and fun things like that - items to be listed in my shop. Wink, wink.

Who ISN'T watching American Idol tonight?

I can't help it...really. I never used to watch, but the last couple of seasons I found I couldn't help myself. And then because I'm Canadian, I had to watch Canadian Idol. But it sure is quite time consuming and addicting. The writer's strike will make this season a huge hit though, I'm guessing. (not like it isn't every other year)

Anyway, there's a storm brewing outside, so I have reason to be cuddled up inside watching tv, right? :) It's SO windy and ugly, it's almost unreal. I'm pretty sure The Boy jinxed it this morning when he said, "We haven't really had a bad storm this year...the driving weather's been okay!"

Yeah, look outside now, Boy! Oh well, he doesn't have to work tonight, so all is well. He's on his computer playing World of Warcraft...he swore he wouldn't start to play that game for fear of becoming addicted. *Cough* I think he's past the point of addicted. But I'll let him indulge as he worked overtime last week and hasn't had a chance to relax. I'll drag him upstairs later and make him hang out with me. Maybe we'll watch an episode or two of The X-Files...(that's right!)..we bought some seasons of the show recently and have been slowly getting through them. We're still on the first season though.

Ah, maybe I'm as much of a geek as he is. But at least I'm a crafty geek! And I made a sale yesterday - much thanks to the buyer, if you're out there!

It's the Reversible/Convertible Pendant Necklace that I've been making. I haven't listed any new ones, as they're kind of pricey and take awhile to make. I have some in other shapes as well.

What do you think? Should I list some more?

Yummy New Purchases

Okay. Two weeks and they're finally here. What's here, you wonder. MY BEADS! My lovely, lovely eye candy...soon to be little treasures to adorn yourself with!

I felt the need for experimenting...so this is what I picked out. I'm not sure where they're all going to end up, but it's been fun coming up with ideas while I waited for these pretties to show up in my mailbox.

The boy thinks I'm crazy, I'm sure. Whenever a package arrives here for me, he hands it to me with this little half-smile, as I take it gingerly from him....because he knows that inside I'm jumping up and down like a 5-year old.

Yep. That's how it is. I'm not much for shopping, not really a girly girl who gets excited about purses or shoes....but show me a crazy selection of beads or craft supplies and you've won me over :)

Which reminds me - The Boy's Grandma gave me some blocks of polymer clay and some little cutting tools for Christmas (they were on my Xmas list, along with Ani DiFranco's poetry book - very lovely) and I don't think she expected my excited reaction. CRAFTS! Who wouldn't love to receive those things?

So yeah, Experimentation 101 is on my To Do list. Maybe not tonight though. I'm beat. I spent the day cleaning rabbit cages, catching up on taped TV shows (I'm addicted to Design Inc. and House Hunter's lately...anyone else?) and cleaning up the kitchen to the point of being completely anal about what went where on the counters and above the cupboards. Then I made a supper of chicken wraps and iced tea (yes, that is more of a lunch thing, but The Boy didn't mind!)

And most of the time today, I was listing to my new music player that The Boy got me for Christmas. I don't actually know what the brand of it is...I'm never about the brands....Hmm, let's see. It's an MPIO 1GB MP3 Player in Green. (Lime green actually!) Anyway, I did most of this while listening to some old school Our Lady Peace and my Ani DiFranco 'favourites' ...all in all, not a bad day. Especially considering I've been really ill lately.

Well...I'm off to list something on Etsy. I listed this earlier -- go have a peek!

What time is it?

Blog post number one...after much contemplating and poking and prodding by the boy!

He's been working the night shift for the past 4 months and for the most part, I was keeping his schedule; waking up in the late afternoon, just missing any sunlight that there might have been that day...and then falling asleep around 7am...once again, just missing the light. Especially now that's it's winter.

But since this has been seriously affecting my crating time and just generally my ability to function (I've started mild sleep-walking lately...yep, that's right) I've decided that I'm going to try a few days of being 'normal'.

So, this means that I was actually up all day today, editing pictures of pendants for Etsy (see some on Flickr here) and putting the pendants up for sale. I actually got a sale earlier today - I almost peed my pants a little bit!

It's been tough lately. I haven't been promoting myself, so I kept just getting little nibbles at my shop...hopefully traffic will pick up soon.

Anyone else out there a "Night Time Crafter" ?

Until I blog again -- check it out -->http://www.blogger.com/www.midnightbluadorn.etsy.com
